When I was 19 years old, I found out that my boyfriend and I were going to have a baby. I could not wait! I started planning for the future of our child, until one Saturday morning. I woke up with pain (or should I say a vague pain) in my left leg. This pain didn't really feel like pain, it felt more like my leg was asleep. Being that this was my first pregnancy, I called everyone I knew that had children to ask if this was normal. My grandmother told me to stand on a cold floor because my leg was lacking circulation. That did not work.
Later that day, I called the hospital to ask why I was feeling like I was. They asked if I was bleeding. I said, "no", to they told me to lay on my left side. I did. Three hours later, I started bleeding. I was around 12-13 weeks pregnant. I went straight to the ER. The urine pregnancy test came back negative. They tried to tell me that I wasn't pregnant. I told them that I was to call the clinic where I had the blood test. They were proven wrong.
I was taken for an ultrasound. They saw that my left fallopian tube had ruptured and I that I needed emergency removal of the fallopian tube and the ovary. I lost a lot of blood. When I woke up, I was told that I had a blood transfusion and there was a possibility that I would never conceive again, due to the damage from the surgery.
Today I am the happy mother of 3. Three children were given to me with the one ovary that was damaged during surgery for my ectopic. So please keep the faith...
